From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master Brennan Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with deep backstory, a colorful mix of personalities, and a gripping narrative featuring angels, fiends, and sinister influences increasing in influence within Dol-Makjar.
Note: Revealing details for the latest installment of this adventure lie ahead.
The Combat-Oriented Party Introduced
Episode 3 finished on a huge suspense moment and introduced the first table of characters who will branch out from the main group to undertake their separate journey, distinct from the additional parties.
The combat-focused team consists of the determined fighter (brought to life by Travis Willingham), the nimble rogue (the talented performer), Tyranny (Whitney Moore), the cleric (the player), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie Daymond).
Dividing the Cast
Considering 13 cast members, it was clear from the beginning that keeping everyone at a single group would be unfeasible.
Hence, the first four episodes of this story serve as an Introduction, connecting the individual narratives before dividing into three distinct groups: Warriors, Planners, and Questers.
The Nature of the Soldiers Table
Per Brennan Lee Mulligan, the Soldiers table is for players who prefer a traditionally charged combat and conflict-driven story mode where peaceful solutions are rare.
Upon first impression, figures such as the hesitant healer the cleric might look unsuited, but the actions of episode 3 demonstrate why these specific adventurers are perfectly fit for the warrior group.
Why They Must Go
For one thing, the team knows exactly where to go next after a intense opening clash with the antagonists.
A former ally of the deceased character—whose demise kicked off the campaign’s events—exploited The Crow Keepers for his selfish purposes, breaking into Thjazi’s hideout, striking Thimble, and taking all the enchanted items to auction.
Casimir then cleared his debts and ran away to a secure base in Gormalay, Timmony, above Dol-Makjar, with Cyd Pridesire close behind.
Character Drivers
Moreover, each character has a personal reason to depart the metropolitan area:
- The agile hero, as the companion and closest confidant, seeks revenge.
- The adventurer has experience in Timmony and advises that it is a hostile place.
- Tyranny and Wicander, having resisted his house’s orders to execute the target and instead freed him, have nowhere else to go.
- Yet, their reputation as important members in the powerful family could assist the group reach areas they normally couldn’t.
- Furthermore, The fighter vowed a unbreakable promise to The cleric for his rescue and will now accompany him everywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
In addition, all of them are hunted by the powers that rule the city for a range of causes, making staying in the city no longer safe:
- The agile adventurer and Kattigan are known criminals.
- The warrior and The healer betrayed House Halovar and the legion of demons they are allied with.
- Teor is targeted for elimination by the clan.
This leaves them few options but to head to the northern region in search of Casimir.
Future Episodes
From the latest episode’s Cooldown, we discover that the Soldiers table will not appear in the upcoming installment, leaving the other eight participants to assemble the Questers and Schemers parties.
Audiences can look forward to discovering which players will be assigned to which table in Campaign 4’s last Overture episode, streaming live on next week.
